Mike Sweeney Had Neck Consultation with Dr. Robert Watkins IV

There was this neck pain that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Despite what I do for a living, I’m not one to take pain stoically. I actually took a few cortisone injections as I was waiting for the day of my appointment with Dr. Watkins. That’s how much I can’t tolerate it.

The pain sort of came out of the blue. I literally woke up one morning and I felt increased irritation in the neck region. Whenever I would make a movement I would also feel a sharp sensation going down on my left arm. I’m not the type to let these things go unnoticed so I told the team and then I had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Watkins at the Marina Spine Center.
I told Dr. Watkins the gist of what was going on. I also told him that I had some cortisone injections before coming to see him as a way of dealing with the pain. I knew of Dr. Watkins because of the amazing stories that I heard from other fellow athletes. He was professional in a very humane way and I am very grateful that I had the opportunity to have him on my side.
