Mark Kotsay Had Lumbar Discectomy with Dr. Robert Watkins IV

Back pain is no joke. I feel like it is especially hard to bear by people who engage in a lot of physical activity. I think there's a misconception in the sense that the general belief is that we are able to take it. No one should have to do that.

I was scared of surgery but that was the best solution for my problems. I had a consultation with Dr. Watkins at the Marina Spine Center and we explored the options that I had and an intervention seemed like the one that would bring the best results. I had chronic lower-back pain since 2003. Dr. Watkins identified a herniated disc in my lower back and he explained to me how the pain I was feeling was tied to that.
I had some really bad spasms prior to the meeting with Dr. Watkins and I told him everything about them. My back would tighten all of a sudden and it was excruciating. The surgery went great and then it was up to me to make the most of the rehab period. I really wanted to get better so I constantly checked in with Dr. Watkins.
