Kevin Youkilis Had Lumbar Microdiscectomy with Dr. Robert Watkins IV

Dr. Watkins performed microdiscectomy on my back in order to remove a herniated disc. It went well and I wouldn't have expected it any other way. I learned of the reputation of Dr. Watkins long before it was me that needed help from him.

I found out that there was no way around a back surgery, so I had an appointment scheduled at the Marina Hospital Spine Center. Dr. Robert Watkins, of whom I had heard before because he had helped out other fellow athletes, performed the surgery which made me calm down a bit about the whole situation since I was nervous about it.
My warning sign was just pain. Lots of it. Dr. Watkins identified a herniated disc in my back which was in need of intervention and I trusted him to be in charge of it. I underwent microdiscectomy and it was a total success. I was told, however, that I should be easing into things and take it slow. I had to take about 12 weeks off to make sure that when I go back I can engage fully with the team.
